I am confused with my hair????????????????

i am a young 15 year old teenager. i really am inspired by people with long hair. like heath ledger, kurt cobain, and even johnny depp. i had long hair too. but it was very cmplicated. i asked for a trim because it was getting to the point where i was getting split ends. so i asked for a trim and the guy gave my hair a werid style and then i just shaved it off because the style looked like a mullet. so now have REALLY short hair. it is a lot easier to maintain. but the thing is i like long hair a lot but i get curls sometimes in my hair. and i want to be a rockstar and i am inspired by rockers with long hair and want to have the same image. what should i do? please help guys
