Is it time to retire the Electoral College?
It is clear that you don't understand how our government is supposed to work and the checks and balances that were built into the system. Obama is another who doesn't. If you think I'm wrong try reading Article II of the U S Constitution. Looking at Article II we see the states are required to choose electors by any method they select. The electors cast their ballots as they are required by the state constitutions. In other words the electors place the vote the state wants at the electoral vote. This is because it is the states that elect the president. There was never any intention for the people to vote for president. This isn't difficult to understand when you realize the president is supposed to represent the union and not the people. People are represented in congress. The electoral college is a fair enough way to elect a president who must oppose the people if necessary while representing the Union. It doesn't matter if you won or lost the presidential election. Getting rid of the electoral college would change our form of government. I like the Republic that I pledge allegiance to. I do not prefer a Communist form of government.
