What snowboard should I buy?

I'm still new to this, but I know how to ride. Yet, I don't know anything about boards since I usually rent. I want to buy a board though for it will be cheaper for me. And I'm just looking for a basic board that can pretty much do anything, or in other words, not a board specific to a style like tricks or speed. And what's a good brand. Obviously I've heard of Burton, but Rome sounds cool. haha. Finally, what's a good price to pay for a board?
