If Obama is doomed, why is he still beating McCain?

The last I looked, Obama was leading in the CBS, NBC, LA Times, Gallup, Rasmussen, Quinnipiac, and, little drum roll here.....FOX5 polls. McSame was leading in some poll, but I forget.
